Subject: Results Tilapia Male Ratio Analysis
Trial date: 10 August 2023
Location: Majalengka, Indonesia
We are pleased to report the results of the male ratio trial between Indo Aqua Sukses (IAS) IAS Belanda, Competitor A and Competitor B tilapia strains.
Both Competitor A and Competitor B are scientifically proven to be mixed-sex strains with Competitor A achieving 61% male while Competitor B’s male ratio is 53%. In comparison, IAS Belanda is a natural male tilapia with guaranteed >98% male without the use of hormones.
The results confirm that IAS Belanda is a game changer as Indonesian tilapia farmers can achieve 38-45 percentage points higher yields using Super Tilapia compared to competitor strains.
Male ratio trials were conducted by randomly selecting 100 fingerlings of 2-3 grams from each strain and sexing each in the laboratory to determine sex. The male ratio trial was conducted by IAS team overseen by Mr. Jeroen Schuphof, tilapia expert from Til-Aqua (Netherlands).
